The Bail Bonding Process

Business Card

In short, how the bond process works in South Carolina is fairly straight forward. A bond court judge or magistrate sets the defendant’s bail amount. A South Carolina bail bondsman posts the bond once the 10% premium is paid by the co-signor or the defendant. The defendant is released from jail (pending court date). If the defendant does not appear in court, the co-signor/defendant owes the bondsman 100% of the bond.

However, the steps which accompany the above abreast version are obviously more detailed, but can be explained in 5 steps:

  1. Once your friend or loved one is arrested, he or she will be processed at the detention facility where that person is being held. He or she will either call you or our office. If your loved one or friend contact us, we will get your name and phone number from him or her and contact you on their behalf. If he/she contact you, then you will contact our office at (843) 379-1006 or cell at (843) 562-6071. We will need their first and last name, date of birth, where he/she is being detained, and their middle initial if they have one.
  2. Then you will come to our office and fill out all the required paperwork to complete the bond. We require no more paperwork then the state demands. We are client friendly and can post bonds throughout South Carolina.
  3. Once all the paperwork is complete and understood, we will post the bond at the detention center where your friend or loved one is being held. You will not be required to show any paperwork to the detention center.
  4. When your loved one is released; you then bring him/her back to our office to complete their paperwork and you are on your way.
  5. You are required to attend all court dates, and please call if there are any questions about your court dates.
